My Wedding Dress
Michael and I got married on June 3rd of this year. Needless to say it was the most magical lovely day in history, and I will probably make a blog post about the special day; but until then I wanted to make a post about my dress.
I thought my dress was completely wonderful (as does every bride), but I just wanted to write about it, because why not??

I had a feeling I knew what I wanted my wedding dress to look like, but I didn't know where I would get it from. I knew it was going to need to be altered no matter what, so I didn't care if I bought it cheap. I didn't try any dresses on, I immediately began to just scroll through Etsy. I bought the dress from Dizzy Dreamer Vintage, after looking at so many beautiful gowns. I wanted something that pinched at the waist and flared out. But I wanted the flare to have multiple layers. These were some other options that were super tempting:

This was how my dress originally came:

It was pretty loose in the beginning!
My mom and I went to Alterations by Toni, located in Cincinnati, Ohio. I had never had any of my clothes altered before (I just try to do it myself...probably not very wise), and Toni just blew me away. She was extremely nice, knew exactly what I wanted, and is so skilled at what she does. Just wow. I had, I think, three visits with her to make sure everything fit the way it should.
I didn't know what to expect when I ordered it, but it fit pretty well when I tried it on. The bust was a loose, and I didn't want the long sleeves since my wedding was in June...
This was from the first visit. She tightened basically every part of the bodice, added bra cups, and marked where she was going to hem it. It already looks SO much better!
The dress originally came with a lace bow in the back, but I didn't like that so she took that off too.
This was the second visit. You can see how much work Toni put in already! She's amazing! The only thing left was a little fixing around my shoulders and then it would be done!!!
Toni also added a whole new zipper (the previous one was OLD), and a couple of new buttons in the back. The original dress had a bustle, but it was a dinky sort of bracelet thing that went on your hand. Toni kept the long train and then added a handy bustle that could be concealed easily, but also helped me walk!
Toni added the floral lace from my train to the edges of the shoulders as well.
I am still in love with it, and it will forever hold beautiful memories!
